Guewel / Senegal

In Jan-Feb of 2024, I travelled
to Senegal to collaborate with Lamine Sonko on his interdisciplinary theatre
work Guewel. After several weeks of development — many days of which were interrupted by civil unrest and the blocking of streets, and the internet
(!) — we premiered the work-in-progress at the Daniel Sorana National
Theatre of Senegal. It's been an immense pleasure to connect with Lamine and
his family in Dakar, and I'm certain there will be more to come!
